The aqua centre is designed as a wooden (Siberian Larch) box on a concrete base. The wood also covers the façade openings in the form of lamellas. Every deformation in the building (terraces etc.) is put behind this wooden curtain, providing a simple overall form in respect to the surrounding buildings and nature. This concept also emphasizes the experience of being 'inside' a building looking 'outside', giving a sense of security, rest or freedom to play. The main swimming hall is a square hall with a ceiling height of 7,2 m. The pools are lied out like 'raindrops in a pond'. The super-ellipse or super-circle shape is used to form all pools. |
